Margaret Pomeranz

The Design Files have just posted an interview with Margaret Pomeranz on AMCI's exhibition - Margaret & David: 25 Years of Talking Movies. Featured in the exhibition are Margaret's trademark earrings by her friend Margaret Kirkwood. Now excuse me while I try to find the facebook page for Margaret Pomeranz's Earrings!

Ice Ice Baby!

Bought myself a treat today - icey pole molds shaped as rings! The description on the website suggests that the rings are for children, but I think all jewellers should own a set.

Eye Catch

Renee Bevan (NZ) - Large puffy rose brooch worn by Bill Riley

I wish I was able to get to the exhibition 'Eye Catch: Jewellery and Photography' on at Object Space in New Zealand! Coming from a background in costume design, I'm particularly interested in the role of jewellery in portraiture. People watching (from a cafe - not in a creepy way) has to be one of my favourite pass-times. The reasons why an individual decides to adorn themselves with a particular item fills me with endless fascination!

Rings From 'Out To Play'

Sterling Silver and Enamel Paint

Golden Bell

During yet another boring day at work last week I was reading the paper and came across this article. I love the idea that an experience from years ago can still be experienced the same way today.

Progress

At the end of the month, me and some of my jewellery friends will be exhibiting work at Mundaring Arts Centre in an exhibition titled Out To Play. Here is a glimpse of what I am working on...

Theverymany

I'm back! Having been distracted by overseas travel, I will now endeavour to pay blog more attention. During my travels I saw many lovely things. One place I had fun at was the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Not usually inspired by 'techy' design, the colours and patterns of *Y/Struc/Surf by the collaborative research firm Theverymany instantly grabbed me.

Hanging Rock

I've come to decide on the direction in which to take my 'on-casting' - Peter Weir's film 'Picnic At Hanging Rock'. I love the contrast of victoriana with the Australian wilderness. I hope to reference traditional forms of jewellery with uncut gemstones and seemingly naive settings.
